Bruton’s “BRD” labeled entries in its vast catalog of library music are where some of the most mellow tracks reside, and this set, published in 1978 does not deviate from the theme. BRD 6 Leisure also has a wide number of composers, including familiar faces such as Steve Gray, John Cameron, and the ever-versatile Alan Hawkshaw, whose “Sundown” is perhaps the centerpiece of this particular set. Also appearing are Irving Martin and Brian Dee, who stole the show on BRG 18 Get Up And Go(reviewed here earlier), Brian Wade, Mike Vickers, and Keith Mansfield, whose “Warm Glow” ties with Hawkshaw’s offerings for the most pleasant surprise of the set. It is the only song in the sets reviewed thus far that sounds more than just a little familiar; “Warm Glow” was actually used in an episode of The White Shadow: “Reunion”, the third season opener, which aired in 1981. Look it up on Hulu, if you get a chance; the television program (which not coincidentally, first started airing in 1978), reknowned for its “less-than-squeaky-clean” and edgy portrayal of high school life, is perhaps one of the most underrated on American television.
